About Vestibular Therapy (Vertigo + Dizziness)

Vestibular rehabilitation is an effective treatment for those diagnosed with dizziness, imbalance, vertigo, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV), concussion, and neck-related dizziness. Vestibular rehabilitation therapy (VRT) is an exercise-based program that encourages the central nervous system to compensate for balance or equilibrium deficits, which are present due to inner ear or central nervous system disease or dysfunction. VRT exercises are designed specifically for each individual after a thorough assessment by a trained therapist.

Balance disorders and dizziness are a growing health concern across all age groups, with prevalence increasing with age. If left untreated, this can lead to worsening balance, increased falls risk, loss of confidence and anxiety, inactivity, and loss of independence. VRT can be extremely useful to reduce symptoms, improve one’s ability to function safely in activities of everyday living and ultimately, improve quality of life.
